First things first: it’s pronounced va-len-TEEN.

(Not Val. Not anymore please.)

It’s French. And while I don’t speak the language, I do enjoy bread, cheese, and being rude to people who speak little to no French, so… close enough.

In my professional and personal pursuits, I’m a writer, performer, and director.

As a colleague in advertising, I’m a word-wielding, strategic-thinking, quality-driven creative, and a former nightmare to account people (I’m so sorry. I’ve learned to be better. Pleasant even. I have references.). As a Creative Director, I’m #88 in Strategy’s 2023 Creative Report Card, and as a cynic, I don’t think it really means anything, but as a second-gen with Hong Kong-Cantonese roots, there’s no better number.

As a storyteller, I’m especially drawn to character-driven narratives with multifaceted protagonists that don’t fit in a box; that explore themes of identity, family, belonging, and personal growth; and use humour, wit, and honesty to convey complex emotions and relationships.

In my downtime, I’m a total couch potato. And a shameless Asian stereotype who takes pics of her food.

Beyond all that, I’m much more than any one thing.
